It’s one of the largest natural treasures in Colombia and it has been declared a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Tayrona National Park is a protected area located 34 kilometers northeast of Santa Marta, with a maximum height of 900masl. In Tayrona you can enjoy a rich extension of 15,000 hectares of which 12,000 are terrestrial and 3000 are marine, thousands of travelers visit year after year. You can do many activities from a pleasant hike through ecological trails, explore huge stones in El Pueblito and Cabo San Juan, enjoy the sea breeze from the viewpoint in Los Naranjos and Cañaverales, enjoy a piece of paradise in Playa Cinto or practice a bit of snorkeling in Bahía Concha.

Is a wonderful spot in the Tayrona Park, Bahia Concha invites you to enjoy its white sand and its warm blue & green sea. Located 13.6 km from Taganga this is the ideal place for all snorkelers where you can admire beautiful coral reefs and a great variety of fish. You can also enjoy pleasant lodging in cabins or the camping areas and eat in restaurants that will offer you delicious fresh seafood as the fishmonger prepares it.

It’s one of the most visited natural places in Tayrona Park, Playa Cristal or formerly known as Playa Del Muerto, provides to all travelers the beauty of its crystal clear waters and a wide and colorful sea floor thanks to its majestic coral reefs which is one of its greatest attractions. From Taganga to Playa Cristal it’s around 30.9 km which you can enjoy a boat ride that will drop you on the beach. It’s one of the most perfect places to snorkel or take a walk to the scenic viewpoint « 7 Olas », and have a delicious lunch of fresh fried fish and disengage your mind from the rest of the world.

If you are staying in the Arrecifes area they recommend entering the park before 4:00 p.m as you have to walk about 40 minutes on footpaths or rent a horse to reach the campsite. At the site, you will find 6 cabins holding up to 5 people with 1 double bed and 3 single beds there are also 60 hammocks with mosquito nets and locker space for personal belongings, this area has 100 camping spaces in the area there are also archaeological remains of the Tayrona Indians.

The great natural beauty of Cabo San Juan is the perfect blend between a moist forest and the majesty of the sea. People say that it’s a small piece of paradise where you can camp and enjoy the plants and wildlife of this special spot in the Caribbean. Cabo San Juan is located at 45 km by road from Taganga, it’s a destination where you can make great walks and appreciate wonderful stone paths that lead to the Tayrona ruins, Pueblito is a small village that has stayed inhabited for centuries and today is considered a sacred space. Camping spots can be found here along with hammocks with some in the campsite and other hammocks that are situated along the beach in a hut with great sea views.
